PROJECT OVERVIEW

ARTC Nationwide Structural Inspection Program

ARTC required routine visual and engineering asset inspection and load rating across 19,000 assets spanning multiple Australian states from Kalgoorlie (WA) to Acacia Ridge (Qld), all branch lines, and everything in between.

Challenge

ARTC asset managers require ongoing asset condition data across all their structural assets so that they can prioritise maintenance interventions and maintain compliance.

Solution

Sterling provided a complete project delivery solution to ensure all assets were inspected, condition rated and where required load rated. The Sterling project team consisted of structural inspectors, engineers, data analysts, rail safety and traffic management operatives and specialist project management and coordinators. Works were completed in some of the most remote areas of Australia.

Deliverables

Asset inspection and condition reports delivered per asset, data deliverables delivered directly into the ARTC asset management system, engineering reports for each bridge structure, documenting structural condition, and load rating for as is condition.

Outcome

Provided ARTC with detailed technical understanding of asset condition and practical remediation strategies, enabling informed investment decisions for infrastructure preservation.

Next Project

Engineering Investigation – Murray River Bridge

ARTC required a detailed engineering investigation of the Murray River Rail Bridge in Albury spanning the Murray River. The lattice frame through truss structure was constructed circa 1880 of wrought iron and required detailed inspection.
