Technical Innovation Lead

About the Role

This newly created Technical Innovation Lead position offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of asset management within transportation infrastructure. You will play a key role in driving the adoption of cutting-edge technologies, with a strong focus on the digitisation of inspections, data capture, modelling, and analysis to enhance efficiency and decision-making.

The role is responsible for identifying and implementing innovative solutions that transform traditional practices, while ensuring commercial success through the achievement of revenue and profitability targets associated with new technologies and methods.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide subject matter expertise regarding new technology in the field of asset management of transport infrastructure
  • Liaise with clients and industry to gauge market trends and understand growth areas on the shot, medium, and long term horizon
  • Develop business cases for investment into new technology as required to achieve the position objective
  • Create new service offerings utilising new technology – such as digital twin, drone inspections, remote operated vehicle, structural health monitoring
  • Collaborate with the division to implement new processes enabling the use of new technology – including pre inspection, field work, and post processing of data
  • Undertake field inspection work to assess and validate new processes and use of new technology
  • Leading the development of tenders, primarily focused on technology led solutions

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of infrastructure codes, and Australian Standards – RSIM etc
  • Data capture and manipulation, Fulcrum, Ellipse, etc
  • Image quality, digital surveying, Lidar scanning, digital twin
  • Degradation modelling curves for asset strategy
  • Artificial Intelligence – familiar with current AI tools and relevant applications
  • Coding experience – desired

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in either Engineering, IT, Surveying or Business
  • 8 or more years’ experience with data analysis / maintenance / strategy in transport infrastructure.
  • Familiar with LIDAR, Digital Twins and Drone capture
  • Qualified drone pilot (desirable)
  • Site experience (desirable)
  • Passionate about digitisation of asset management
  • A data specialist with a focus on practical solutions
  • Experience on major projects
