We are currently seeking a proactive and motivated Health & Safety Coordinator to join our Rockhampton team in a part-time capacity.
About the Role
The Health & Safety Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of our health and safety systems across operational and office environments.
Working closely with operational teams, supervisors, and project staff, you will help drive a strong safety culture, support compliance obligations, and contribute to safe and efficient project delivery across the business.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on, engaging with frontline workers, and making a genuine impact on workplace safety outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct site safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with company procedures and legislative requirements
- Monitor workplace activities and identify hazards, risks, and improvement opportunities
- Support incident and near miss investigations, including reporting and corrective actions
- Conduct risk assessments and assist with implementation of risk controls
- Review SWMS and other safety documentation for compliance and effectiveness
- Provide practical safety advice and support to operational teams and supervisors
- Deliver toolbox talks and safety communications
- Coordinate safety training and verification of competencies
- Maintain safety records, registers, and compliance documentation
- Support safety initiatives, improvement programs, and company-wide safety activities
- Promote and contribute to a positive and proactive safety culture across the organisation
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Experience in a health, safety, or HSE role within construction, rail, civil, infrastructure, or similar operational environments
- Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation and compliance requirements
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations
- Excellent hazard identification and risk management skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
- A collaborative and proactive approach to safety improvement
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
Qualifications & Requirements
Essential
- Relevant Health & Safety or HSE qualification/certification
- Experience working within safety management systems
- Current driver’s licence
Desirable
- Experience within rail, civil construction, or infrastructure industries
- Incident investigation training/certification
- Auditor training or auditing experience
