PROJECT OVERVIEW

Engineering Investigations

ARTC required routine visual and engineering asset inspection and load rating across multiple Australian states along major corridors including Albury to Kalgoorlie (VIC, NSW, SA, WA), Sydney to Albury (NSW), and other key routes.

Challenge

Rail and road infrastructure owners required detailed engineering investigations to assess structural condition, identify deterioration mechanisms, and develop remediation strategies for ageing assets.

Solution

Sterling conducted comprehensive structural investigations including material testing, condition assessments, and root cause analysis. Our engineers developed remediation designs with construction methodologies for long-term asset preservation.

Deliverables

Engineering investigation reports documenting structural condition, material testing results and laboratory analysis, root cause analysis of deterioration mechanisms, and recommendations for remediation works including design specifications.

Outcome

Provided infrastructure owners with detailed technical understanding of asset condition and practical remediation strategies, enabling informed investment decisions for infrastructure preservation.

Next Project

Engineering Investigation – Murray River Bridge

ARTC required a detailed engineering investigation of the Murray River Rail Bridge in Albury spanning the Murray River. The lattice frame through truss structure was constructed circa 1880 of wrought iron and required detailed inspection.
